Kurtz Brothers Demonstrates the Advantages of Electronic Document Management (EDM)

Kurtz Bros. has been providing school supplies to the educational industry for over 100 years. From pre-school products to high school tablets and textbooks, the company offers a full line of educational merchandise to schools and other educational institutions throughout the nation. A major part of Kurtz Bro's. business involves offering competitive bids and quotes to their customers based on individual needs. In the past, these quotes, along with invoices and other communications, were individually faxed or e-mailed to each client.
Kurtz Bros. needed to find a more efficient way to handle their document management needs, specifically by expanding its document distribution capabilities. When MIS Manager Bob Newell learned that Cornerstone Communications specialized in improving legacy business processes with electronic document management (EDM), he scheduled a meeting to discuss possible options. Newell expressed that the company’s main goal was to reduce the time that employees spent on distributing documents, enabling them to focus on more important issues such as customer service and sales. “We were spending way too much time sending invoices and bids to individual customers and we wanted to update our systems in terms of working with the latest available technology,” said Newell. “After our first meeting with Cornerstone, we didn’t even look anywhere else. Cornerstone installed Unifier for Kurtz Bros. in 1999 and the company immediately began using it to distribute bids, invoices and product announcements electronically to its customer base. “While we were getting up to speed with our new processes, Cornerstone was incredibly helpful.
